Pedestrian accident victim loses life, investigation ongoing

On Behalf of | Jan 2, 2019 | Firm News, pedestrian accidents

Winter has arrived in Connecticut, but drivers should be aware that many people are still out and about, walking close to roadways. Though certainly, most drivers would say that they do their best to be safe behind the wheel, an accident can happen in an instant. When a crash involves a person on foot, the result can be devastating for a pedestrian accident victim

Recently, a 61-year-old Connecticut man was attempting to cross the road on foot. He was struck by a vehicle and suffered serious injuries. When police and rescue workers arrived, the man was in critical condition. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.

Police continue to investigate the tragic accident. By all accounts, the driver, reportedly uninjured, was cooperating with law enforcement and admitted to striking the victim. Police are collecting witness statements in an attempt to determine the exact nature of the crash.

When a Connecticut resident becomes a pedestrian accident victim, loved ones might be overcome by grief and shock. Loss of innocent life is a difficult pill for surviving family members to swallow, and medical bills, funeral expenses and other matters can pile up quickly. Many people choose to seek aid in the form of an experienced attorney in such a difficult time. An attorney can help representatives of the victim’s estate pursue justice against the party at fault in a court of law, and collect any monetary compensation to which the estate may be entitled.
