It was a tragic morning in Connecticut recently due to a crash on the roadway. One man was killed in an early-morning trailer truck accident in Greenwich. Several other crashes were reported in the area during morning traffic, leading to reports of delays and injuries.
The fatal accident occurred on the Merritt Parkway. Trailer and commercial trucks are prohibited from traveling on this particular roadway due to low overpass bridges. It was approximately 6 a.m. when the driver of the truck realized he would not be able to pass under the overpass.
The driver attempted to change lanes to avoid colliding with the overpass, but was not able to. He abruptly stopped short of the bridge which caused the individual driving the car behind him to crash into the back of the truck. The driver, a 62-year-old man, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by an emergency room physician. The driver of the big rig was not immediately charged with any violations, and the investigation into the crash continues.
At least four other individuals were injured in auto accidents in the local area the same morning of Thursday, Nov. 2. Unlike the trailer truck accident, no other fatalities were reported. Connecticut roadways can become a dangerous environment when traffic laws are not followed. Investigation may reveal that the truck driver was at fault for the accident, and could be held responsible for the wrongful death of the man. The victim’s family has every right to consult with a personal injury attorney in order to explore their options for pursuing recovery of the damages incurred due to the crash.
