Train accident results in one death

On Behalf of | Oct 12, 2017 | Firm News, mass transit accidents

An incident involving two people being struck by a train sadly resulted in one death. The Connecticut incident occurred in September of this year. The train accident is still being investigated by authorities.

Officials responded to the scene of the accident due to reports of a person being struck by a train in Thompson in the early morning hours. They found one person over an embankment who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another person was found with life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Both individuals were described as women in their mid to late 20s. Train service was stopped after the accident. The train service remained closed for five hours as authorities made their investigation at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also responded to the scene and will conduct a post-mortem investigation to determine the cause of death.

Since the Connecticut train accident is still under investigation, it is too early to tell who is at fault in the incident. It is possible that the railroad company may play some part in the incident — whether the train company failed to warn by light, sign or signal that a train was approaching. This is only one possible interpretation of the events, and multiple interpretations of events are the reason why officials complete investigations. A person who has been harmed, or lost a loved one due to the possible neglect of a train conductor or a railroad company, may wish to consult an attorney for an evaluation of the case.
