Connecticut drunk driving accidents: Man charged for fatal crash

On Behalf of | Mar 2, 2016 | Drunk Driving Accidents, Firm News

A Connecticut man has been charged for his alleged involvement in a fatal car crash. Authorities believed that he was impaired when he struck a car and killed two of its occupants — both children — in Dec. 2015. Drunk driving accidents such as this one are, understandably, devastating for surviving family members. In this particular case, the victims’ loved ones may be able to seek compensation for their losses by pursing civil claims in court.

This car crash is said to have occurred just after midnight on Dec. 13. A 26-year-old male reportedly drove his vehicle across the centerline of traffic, striking another car head-on. A woman — age 31 — and her two daughters were in the second vehicle. The girls — ages 7 and 4 — were quickly transported to a hospital, but they died shortly after arriving. It is unknown if their mother suffered any physical injuries as a result of the wreck.

The man deemed responsible for this wreck was only recently arrested and booked into jail. Bail has been set in his case at $500,000. He is charged with second-degree manslaughter, DUI, reckless driving, assault with a motor vehicle and driving without insurance.

This was a tragic event, one that has forever changed this family. When drunk driving accidents such as this one occur, victims may not know where they can turn for help. In this case, the mother may be entitled to file a number of legal claims in a Connecticut court in an effort to seek compensation for her losses. Wrongful death and personal injury claims, if handled successfully, could result in this woman being awarded financial relief which could certainly assist with the numerous expenses she is likely facing as a result of any injuries she suffered herself, and with the damages associated with the unexpected and untimely deaths of her daughters.
