Authorities reported that a two-vehicle accident in Plainfield left two individuals with injuries. Police said they are investigating the June 29 incident, which reportedly occurred on Route 14A at approximately 1:50 a.m.
Allegedly, a 51-year-old man was driving a Dodge pickup truck west on Route 14A when a 22-year-old woman crossed into his lane with her eastbound vehicle, causing a head-on collision. Emergency responders took the 51-year-old man to Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment of minor injuries. The 22-year-old woman also suffered minor injuries requiring hospitalization.
As a simple matter of physics, head-on collisions are often destructive and always dangerous. It is rare for motorists to escape this type of accident without injury. Furthermore, not all accident-related injuries reveal themselves in full immediately following the crash. Sometimes, the extent of the injuries does not become manifest until days or weeks later.
