A pregnant woman in Connecticut injured in a pedestrian accident

On Behalf of | May 20, 2014 | Auto-Pedestrian Accidents, Firm News

Pregnancy often gives way to a myriad of concerns, as far as maintaining the overall health and well-being of the mother and child. Of these worries, getting into an accident while pregnant is probably thought about, but not typically an overwhelming stressor. Unfortunately, for one woman in Connecticut this has become a reality, as she was involved in a pedestrian accident recently.

The accident took place at a local intersection in Meriden. While little information was released regarding the victim and the driver thought to be responsible for this collision, what is known is that a pregnant woman was struck by a car while she was walking in the road. She apparently suffered head injuries and lost consciousness at the scene. She was then taken to a nearby hospital for care. The current condition of the woman and her baby are unknown.

Police are still in the process of investigating this incident. At this time, it is unknown if any charges have been filed against the driver. Local law enforcement have yet to release the identities of those involved in this crash.

Victims of a pedestrian accident often endure significant injuries, which typically require extensive medical care and expensive rehabilitation in order to recover. In this case, injuries may have been suffered by not only the woman, but to her unborn child as well. If the driver in this incident is found to have been negligent in causing the crash, not only will he or she face the possibility of criminal charges, but the victim may choose to file a personal claim as well. If this individual is found liable before a Connecticut civil court, the victim may be granted a monetary judgement for the injuries she has suffered, financial losses she has encountered and compensation for the pain and suffering she has endured as a result of the accident.
