Man dies in 1 of Connecticut’s hit and run accidents

On Behalf of | Feb 15, 2014 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Remembering road safety is understandably important for motorists. However, these laws and guidelines are also essential for bicyclists and pedestrians. Without the protection that a vehicle provides, people sharing the road when walking or biking are far more susceptible to severe injuries in collisions. Hit and run accidents too often result in devastating injuries or even death, as evidenced by a wreck in Connecticut.

As he was walking home late one evening, a 59-year-old veteran had to cross the street. Sadly, while he was walking across the road, an automobile flew around the corner and slammed into the man. Without stopping to check on the man, the driver continued traveling down the road. The pedestrian had to be taken to the emergency room because of the injuries he had sustained in the collision; he later died from these critical injuries.

The car that was said to have struck the pedestrian was found a few days after the motor vehicle crash. The man believed to have been the driver of this automobile at the time of the accident was arrested while working. The 29-year-old was arrested and held on bond of $100,000. He is facing charges for operating a car that was unregistered, homicide with an automobile due to negligence and the criminal charge of evading responsibility for the collision.

The arrest of this 29-year-old alleged to be at fault for this fatal accident in Connecticut came some time following the collision. Although there was a time-lapse between these two events, the loved ones of the man still have the right to file claims for the wrongful death of the 59-year-killed in the crash. These claims can compensate for the funeral costs that had to be covered. The collision, like many hit and run accidents, had heartbreaking consequences that left loved ones grieving at the loss of this man’s life.
