Deadly car accidents are always destructive, not just to those who are directly involved, but to family and friends who are left behind to grieve. Sadly, there was another fatal accident in Connecticut recently that took the life of a young man. He was a passenger in a car that smashed into a tree in a South Windsor neighborhood. Authorities have yet to determine what may have caused the crash.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 2. Three young men, all in their 20s, were in the vehicle at the time it slammed into a tree in the front yard of a local volunteer firefighter. The man called 911 and was able to provide first responders with good information as they made their way to the scene.
It reportedly took 40 minutes for responders to extricate all three occupants from the vehicle. A medical helicopter was requested, but conditions were too foggy. All three were transported to the hospital, where one of the men died from his injuries. Reports do not indicate what types of injuries were sustained by the driver and the other survivor.
As authorities continue their investigation into the fatal accident, family members of the decedent must now face the difficult task of carrying on without their loved one. If it is eventually determined that the driver acted negligently in any way, he may be subject to a wrongful death action in Connecticut civil court. If successful, such a claim may offer some financial relief for family members who must pay funeral and burial expenses. More importantly, it may help them close this painful chapter in their lives so they can move on.
