Woman killed in pedestrian accident in parking lot

On Behalf of | Jan 6, 2014 | Auto-Pedestrian Accidents, Firm News

A young woman in Connecticut was hit while she was removing articles from her car that was parked in a public parking lot. It was dark, since it was the early morning hours. In a freak pedestrian accident, a dark red or burgundy car hit her and dragged her to her death.

The accident took place in Byram. According to authorities, they have determined that the car that struck the woman was a Pontiac G6, model year mid-to-late 2000s. Though it was not directly stated, authorities may have obtained access to surveillance videos, because they also have said that the reddish colored car appears to have Connecticut plates on both the front and rear of the car, along with tinted windows.

Why the car was driving fast enough through the public parking lot to strike and hook the pedestrian is unclear. The driver of the hit-and-run car managed to drag the woman out of the lot, down one street and onto another, a distance of more than three blocks, before she finally mercifully fell loose from the car. While it was not clear how long the woman was on the road or who discovered her there, she was transported to a local hospital for treatment at some point. She was unfortunately declared deceased.

Authorities also released a description of the man who was apparently driving the G6 when the pedestrian accident took place. That, combined with the description of the car, may be enough for Connecticut residents to identify a suspect. Naturally there is a family looking for answers and grieving for their lost child, and identifying a guilty party will help them start to put their lives back on track. They may have the right to file a wrongful death suit against the driver, which could help cover unexpected medical bills as well as offer compensation for pain and suffering.
