Connecticut car accidents: bus and police car crash injures 12

On Behalf of | Nov 14, 2013 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Many Connecticut residents rely on public buses to get around in their day-to-day lives. Doing so means putting one’s safety into the bus driver’s hands. With that can come a feeling of helplessness when one sees car accidents unfolding and is unable to take action to prevent it. Passengers must rely on the bus drivers to be alert and responsive to road conditions.

A bus transporting 26 people was recently traveling down the streets of New Haven when a police car hit it. Two police cars were reportedly responding to an emergency. The second police car apparently could not respond quickly enough when turning from one street onto another to avoid hitting the bus. Authorities are said to be still investigating the accident.

More than a dozen people were injured, including the policeman driving the second police car. Of the people on the bus, 22 of them were taken to the hospital for evaluation. While the policeman’s injuries were not life-threatening, the rest of the injuries were not immediately available.

Proven findings of negligence and recklessness could affect any personal injury claims that can be filed by victims. Civil lawsuits pertaining to car accidents can help victims recover the financial restitution to which they are entitled, to pay for pain and suffering, medical bills, any necessary rehabilitation and lost wages, among other things. Victims of accidents in Connecticut have the right to seek compensation. The goal of such lawsuits is to restore a victim’s financial situation to the same state it was in prior to the victim being injured in an accident caused by another person’s reckless and negligent actions.
