Connecticut intersection crash between bus, Nissan hurts several

On Behalf of | Oct 18, 2013 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Many Connecticut residents have experienced the fear that can come from driving through an intersection only to realize that another vehicle is not obeying a traffic signal. When a vehicle fails to stop at a red light as required, an intersection crash can result. This can lead to injuries to innocent victims that are suddenly left struggling to pay medical bills and other expenses. The good news is that when this does occur, victims often have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit in order to recoup those financial damages.

One recent crash in a Connecticut intersection reportedly took place because the driver of a Nissan neglected to stop at a red light. The Nissan plowed into a Bridgeport Transit bus, leading to several injured bus passengers and an injured bus driver in addition to injuring the Nissan’s driver and passenger. Fortunately, none of the injuries appeared life-threatening, but that doesn’t mean they won’t incur medical debt for some of the victims.

Emergency workers responded to the scene and proceeded to triage the injured individuals. One woman confined to a wheelchair had to be helped to the sidewalk, and several people were transported to hospitals for medical treatment. One of the bus passengers reported that the bus had the green light at the time of the collision, and alleged that the Nissan’s driver sped through a red light.

Connecticut authorities continue to investigate this intersection crash, and their findings could affect any personal injury claims that may be filed. These civil lawsuits can help victims recover the financial restitution to which they are entitled. Victims of accidents have the right to seek such restitution in order to restore themselves to the same financial state they were in prior to being injured in an accident caused by another person’s negligence.
