Wrongful death may be found in the investigation of a recent head-on collision. The Hamden, Connecticut community is mourning the loss of another teenager in the head-on collision. The high school football player died from the injuries he suffered in the accident. The 15-year old was a passenger in the vehicle, which was driven by his uncle. If investigators determine that one of the two drivers was negligent, wrongful death may be an appropriate finding.
Along with the victim’s family, the students and football team members of Hamden High School are trying to cope with this most recent tragedy. Unfortunately, five Hamden High students have died in car accidents in the past seven years. The most recent was a senior who did not survive the injuries he incurred in an accident in August. School officials have provided grief counselors to help facilitate healing from the pain caused by these tragic accidents.
While families of fatal accident victims suffer grief over the sudden loss of their loved one, there may also be financial losses. Medical expenses, funeral and burial expenses are just some of the financial burdens suffered by those left behind. Compensation by the at-fault party may ease these financial burdens.
There is no amount of money that can bring back a loved one who has died in a tragic accident. However, surviving family members may elect to assess the viability of pursuing a wrongful death claim.
