Blown tire leads to multi-vehicle accident

On Behalf of | Jun 29, 2012 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Accidents on Connecticut’s roadways routinely cause injury and substantial medical expenses. Car accidents are one of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities in America. This is no exception when motorcycles are involved. In fact, because motorcyclists have less protection than cars, the probability that a motorcyclist will suffer serious injury in a crash is much higher.

Recently, a motorcycle and car crash on I-95 in Stratford, Connecticut caused critical injuries to a woman who was involved. The woman, who was a passenger on a motorcycle, was thrown from the vehicle when it crashed into the back of a truck. The truck was exiting the highway at the time when one of its tires blew out.

Two other motorcyclists were involved in the crash as well. Traveling in the area at the time of the car collision, the motorcyclists hit the truck after it lost control. One cyclist struck the back of the truck and the other hit the side. Both of the cyclists were injured as well in the crash.

According to investigators, the accident is still under investigation. All of the cyclists where wearing helmets at the time.

At this point, it is unclear whether fault will be attributed to any particular driver. However, generally speaking, negligent maintenance of a vehicle can lead to severe accidents. Any injured parties involved in a crash caused by negligent maintenance may be entitled to compensation for pain and suffering.

If a judge or jury find found the evidence that negligence caused an accident and the resulting injuries, the responsible parties may be ordered to cover the medical expenses and lost wages of those harmed.
