Fatal accident in Connecticut kills 1, injures 3

On Behalf of | May 22, 2014 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents, Firm News

A multi-vehicle collision in Connecticut recently claimed the life of one individual and left three others injured. This fatal accident required local law enforcement to close down the road for several hours while they worked to clear the scene. Accidents such as this will almost certainly leave those injured and family members of the deceased looking for answers and seeking justice for the losses suffered.

This particular accident occurred in Colebrook, when a sedan heading southbound was apparently struck head-on by a northbound pick-up truck which crossed the center line. The collision killed the sedan’s driver, a 54-year-old woman. The truck continued on to strike a third car, injuring the driver and two passengers, both children. A fourth car attempted to avoid the crash, but ended up colliding with the third car.

The driver believed responsible for these collisions, a 23-year-old male, was reportedly transported to a local hospital with internal injuries. The victims in the third car, an adult and two children, were all taken to a medical facility with minor injuries. Thankfully, no one in the fourth car was injured in the crash.

Police are continuing their investigation of this accident. Little is known about the driver of the pick-up, though he is said to be a resident of another state. It is unknown if any charges have been filed against him in the matter.

The family of the deceased victim may choose to seek legal recourse for the loss of their loved one in this fatal accident. A wrongful death claim may be filed against the individual believed to be responsible for this woman’s death. If that person is found liable for the crash, a Connecticut civil court could award the victim’s family financial compensation to help recoup any monetary losses they have encountered as a result of the collision.
