Driving after midnight can often lead to an accident. Motorist error may be due to falling asleep at the wheel or having their vision impaired by the lack of light. A nighttime accident can also be caused by alcohol or drug impairment as a driver may be leaving a late night party. Regardless of the reason, pedestrians may be in danger of a negligent driver. Late one recent evening, a Connecticut man lost his life in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident.
During the first hours on a recent Saturday, a 32-year-old man was hit by a vehicle near Exit 2 on Interstate 84. At the time of the incident, the motorist fled the scene. Law enforcement found the man’s vehicle parked in the right shoulder, and the man deceased in the right lane.
It is unknown at this time if the pedestrian could have survived the accident if he was helped immediately after the accident. The accident is currently under investigation. Police are requesting any additional information from any potential witnesses.
It is distressing for a family to lose a loved one due to a negligent driver. In addition to the sudden loss of a family member, unforeseen funeral and burial expenses can burden a family. As the family of this young man waits for Connecticut law enforcement to make an arrest in the hit-and-run pedestrian accident, the family can consult an attorney to discuss the viability of filing a wrongful death claim once the motorist is apprehended. With a successfully litigated claim, those suffering monetary loss in similar situations may be awarded funds to help lift the financial burden.
