Man charged with wrongful death of two men

On Behalf of | Apr 19, 2018 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents, Firm News

Road laws are in place to keep traffic flowing at a steady pace and to avoid potential accidents. However, when a law is broken by a driver, it puts others on or near the road at risk. Recently, a Connecticut man was charged with the wrongful death of two men when he caused a collision after driving the wrong way on a roadway in Norwalk earlier this year.

On Jan. 8, the 33-year-old driver crossed over center lanes with his vehicle. As he was driving in the opposite direction of the flow of traffic, he collided with the other car head-on. Unfortunately, the driver and passenger of the other vehicle died soon at the scene of the accident.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was under the influence of the drug PCP. A few months after the accident, the driver was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of manslaughter, reckless driving and driving under the influence. His bond has been set for $200,000.

It is a tragic loss for a family who has lost a loved one due to a negligent driver. Many times, an unexpected death can bring a financial burden as medical, funeral and burial expenses become a reality while a family is still grieving. To help cover these sudden expenses, a successful litigated claim can bring some monetary relief. A Connecticut attorney can provide more information and help begin the process of filing a wrongful death claim after an accident caused by a careless driver.
