Connecticut truck accident: Pedestrian hit by semi

On Behalf of | Apr 13, 2016 | Firm News, Truck Accidents

A Connecticut woman was recently injured after being struck by a semi trailer. The truck accident reportedly happened in the New Haven area at the end of March. Police are still investigating this incident.

According to reports, the woman was walking on Eastern Street when she was hit by the semi. The truck driver had apparently just finished making a delivery and was pulling away from his delivery point near an apartment complex when he hit the pedestrian. It is believed that she was walking in front of the truck before the driver started to move the vehicle. The victim was knocked to the ground and dragged for several feet before the truck driver noticed what had happened.

The victim is said to have sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. It is unknown if she is still a patient at the medical facility or if she has been released. Authorities have not indicated if any charges are pending against the driver.

An auto-pedestrian accident can have life-altering consequences for the victim. The injuries often suffered in such incidents are generally severe — if not fatal. In this particular case, if negligence is established, the victim may be entitled to take legal actions against the driver and his employer in an effort to seek monetary damages for her losses resulting from this truck accident. A personal injury claim may be filed in a Connecticut civil court. If successfully handled, any and all recoverable losses may be compensated — such as medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages and more.
