Connecticut pedestrian accident: Man hit by bus dies

On Behalf of | Dec 17, 2015 | Auto-Pedestrian Accidents, Firm News

A Connecticut man was crossing the street when he was struck by a bus. Sadly, his injuries were quite severe, and ultimately, he died as a result of the crash. This pedestrian accident, as most are, was tragic and has undoubtedly left the victim’s surviving family members seeking answers as to why it happened.

According to a report, this incident occurred the evening of Dec. 7 in Wethersfield. The victim was crossing near an intersection when he was hit by a CT Fastrak bus. He was transported to a hospital for medical treatment; however, he died shortly after his arrival. The name and age of the victim has yet to be released.

Authorities are still investigating this incident. An official cause of the crash has not been reported. Any witnesses to the incident are being asked to contact authorities. As of this moment in time, criminal charges have not been filed in this case.

It is not uncommon for a pedestrian accident to result in fatality. The human body is not designed withstand the force of a massive vehicle. When these accidents occur, victims’ loved ones are likely to ask if negligent actions by the drivers may have contributed to the events. If such actions are suspected, civil claims may be filed in an effort to seek compensation for any damages sustained. In this case, a wrongful death claim filed against the driver and CT Fastrak may result in a monetary judgment being awarded by a Connecticut court to the victim’s surviving family members — if litigation is successful.
