Connecticut car accidents: Head-on collision kills 2, injures 4

On Behalf of | Dec 19, 2015 | Car Accidents, Firm News

A terrible accident in Connecticut is responsible for the deaths of two young children and injuries suffered by four other people. Car accidents of this nature are understandably difficult to move past, as the damages sustained and losses suffered are quite severe. The surviving victims of this incident, along with the families of the deceased children, retain the right to pursue legal actions against the driver thought responsible for this tragic event.

This incident reportedly occurred just after midnight on Dec. 13, in Bristol. The driver of a sedan allegedly crossed over the center line of traffic and hit a minivan head-on. Two people in the minivan required medical care and were taken to separate hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown.

All four occupants of the sedan had to be extricated from the vehicle. Two children, ages 4 and 7, died in the crash. The driver — the children’s mother — and another passenger were transported to a hospital in Hartford for medical attention. At this time, police have not stated whether charges will be filed in this case.

Car accidents that result in serious injuries, such as this one, can leave victims struggling in a variety of ways. In this case, the occupants of the minivan and the passenger in the sedan who survived the crash may be entitled to file personal injury claims against the individual believed responsible for their losses. The law also recognizes a similar right to pursue wrongful death claims by the legal estates of the deceased children. By pursing legal actions, the victims may seek compensation for the physical, monetary and emotional traumas they have experienced. A Connecticut civil court may grant financial compensation that is deemed fair for the circumstances in cases that are successfully handled.
