A 25-year-old Connecticut man was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on July 1. According to the authorities, the incident took place at an intersection around 7:30 a.m.
Police involved in the investigation of the crash stated that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound when the driver of a motor vehicle attempted to make a left-hand turn onto the same road. The motorcycle and vehicle then collided. The motorcyclist was transported to Waterbury Hospital immediately after the collision. The driver of the motor vehicle, who was not identified in the report, did not suffer any serious injuries.
At the time of the report, authorities were still investigating the crash, and no potential causes or factors were stated. It was not known if the authorities planned to file charges or citations against the driver of the motor vehicle once the investigation was closed.
Because motorcyclists are not well-protected against injuries if they become involved in a crash, there is a chance they could suffer a serious injury, including brain trauma or broken bones. If the injury is serious enough, the person could become permanently disabled or have their quality of life reduced.
If it is determined in the investigation that the motorist involved in the crash was responsible, the motorcyclist may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit against them. The attorney for the injured person may be able to accurately estimate the full cost of damages that resulted from the accident. For example, they may determine if the injured person can seek compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering and lost income.
