Two Connecticut women were hospitalized on July 11 after their vehicles collided. The head-on collision happened in the morning in Columbia. Authorities closed down the highway while emergency crews responded to the accident scene.
According to police, a 49-year-old female driver was heading east when she crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the vehicle of a 42-year-old woman. Both drivers were receiving treatment at Hartford Hospital for broken legs at the time of the report. The first driver was also being treated for a chest injury. The injuries of both drivers were described as non-incapacitating. Police did not speculate as to what caused the first driver to travel into oncoming traffic.
Car accidents may cause a range of injuries to the people involved, such as spinal and brain trauma, internal injuries and broken bones. Financial turmoil often accompanies the emotional and physical damages faced by car accident victims and their families.
