Head-on crash sends 2 to hospital

On Behalf of | Jul 15, 2014 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Two Connecticut women were hospitalized on July 11 after their vehicles collided. The head-on collision happened in the morning in Columbia. Authorities closed down the highway while emergency crews responded to the accident scene.

According to police, a 49-year-old female driver was heading east when she crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the vehicle of a 42-year-old woman. Both drivers were receiving treatment at Hartford Hospital for broken legs at the time of the report. The first driver was also being treated for a chest injury. The injuries of both drivers were described as non-incapacitating. Police did not speculate as to what caused the first driver to travel into oncoming traffic.

Car accidents may cause a range of injuries to the people involved, such as spinal and brain trauma, internal injuries and broken bones. Financial turmoil often accompanies the emotional and physical damages faced by car accident victims and their families. Those involved in a car accident that was caused by another driver have the right to seek compensation from the responsible parties through personal injury claims.

Crash victims who receive compensation may be able to recover the cost of the medical treatment they received as a direct result of the car accident. They might also be reimbursed for the wages they lost while they were unable to work during their recovery. If the victims suffered incapacitating injuries that prevent them from ever returning to work, they could receive compensation that pays for their loss of future wages. The compensation may also cover ongoing medical treatment, such as rehabilitation for incapacitating injuries.
