Driver arrested for fatal accident in Connecticut

On Behalf of | Mar 15, 2014 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents, Firm News

It is an unfortunate reality that car accidents happen. These incidents can range in severity, but those that result in a fatal accident can be the most heart-wrenching. The loss of a loved one due to the negligence of another is hard for any surviving family members to cope with. What may be even harder to bear is not knowing who was responsible for their loss. Recently, a Connecticut man was arrested for his connection to a fatal accident last spring that resulted in the death of an elderly woman.

A horrific accident last March in West Hartford claimed the life of a 93-year-old woman. She suffered critical injuries after her car was struck by another vehicle that had crossed over the center line of traffic. She was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment; however, she passed away about a week after the incident occurred. All the other individuals in her car survived the crash, though it is unknown if anyone else required medical care.

This accident occurred about a year ago, but the driver allegedly responsible, a 38-year-old male, was just recently arrested. He is currently facing charges including negligent homicide for his role in the incident. A judge established his bail in the amount of $100,000.

Aside from the criminal charges this man is facing, the family may also pursue a wrongful death claim on behalf of the deceased victim. Both may help provide the surviving family members with a sense of justice and may even provide some closure for this tragic loss of life. If the accused man is found liable for the crash, a Connecticut civil court could award the family restitution payments to help recoup any financial losses they have suffered as a result of this fatal accident.
