2 pedestrians struck and injured by vehicle in Connecticut

A mother and her 12-year-old son were recently injured in a pedestrian-car accident in Connecticut. The pair was reportedly struck by a negligent driver headed southbound in the left turn lane.

The two victims suffered serious injuries, but are currently healing. Although it appears the two will make a full recovery, they likely incurred costly medical expenses as a result of their injuries from being stuck. Depending on liability in this case, the mother and her son could be entitled to compensation.

The 12-year-old boy was released from the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford on Friday. The boy was transferred there in serious condition from Danbury Hospital on the night of the accident. Presently, according to the son, he has 95 percent recovered, but with a “small broken bone” in his left leg. He is already looking forward to hearing from his friends.

The mother was released from Danbury Hospital on Sunday. A surgical procedure was required for her broken leg. The medical expenses for the procedure will likely be extensive. The driver of the vehicle was treated and released from Danbury hospital as well, hospital officials said.

While liability has yet to be determined as the case is still under investigation, the driver in this case may be at substantial fault. If the mother and son were in a crosswalk at the time of the accident, they likely possessed the right of way.

Thankfully all parties are recovering. However, this unfortunate incident is a reminder that inattentive driving can result in substantial consequences.
