Two individuals recently lost their lives in a tragic crash in Connecticut. The fatal accident reportedly occurred in the Shelton area on May 19. Police are still investigating the cause of this incident.
According to reports, an SUV driven by a 30-year-old male was struck by a vehicle that was traveling the wrong direction in the southbound lane of Route 8. A 29-year-old woman was behind the wheel of the wrong-way vehicle. Both drivers were the only occupants of their cars. Sadly, both individuals are said to have died before rescue teams arrived at the accident scene.
At this time, authorities are not sure why the woman was driving in the wrong direction. A medical examiner report is pending which should hopefully shed some light on what happened. This case will remain active until answers can be achieved.
When a fatal accident occurs, the victim’s surviving family members will undoubtedly experience a number of personal, emotional and financial difficulties as a result. After all, taking care of a loved one’s end-of-life matters and expenses is never easy, nor is figuring out how to readjust to life without that individual. When a family member dies as a result of another person’s negligence, legal claims may be filed in an effort to recoup any losses that are deemed recoverable. In this case, as the driver believed responsible for the crash also passed away, legal claims may be filed against her estate. If successful, a Connecticut civil court may award the victim’s family some level of financial relief as compensation.
