Head-on collision in Connecticut kills 1, injures 1

On Behalf of | Mar 8, 2016 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Investigators in Connecticut are looking into the cause of a crash that killed a teenager and left another driver seriously injured. The head-on collision occurred March 4 in East Haven. Unfortunately, little is known about the victims and what may have led to this tragic incident.

This particular accident occurred on South End Road. Very few details about this incident are currently available. Authorities simply believe that the two vehicles struck head-on. Both drivers initially survived the crash and were transported to a medical facility for treatment. However, a 16-year-old is said to have died while being treated at the hospital.

According to reports, one of the drivers had to be extricated from his or her vehicle. In order for emergency crews and investigators to work, a section of the road was shut down for some time. At this time, investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed this accident to please come forward and share information.

While fault has yet to be determined in this case, once the investigation into this head-on collision is complete, the surviving victim or the decedent’s loved ones may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses. Wrongful death or personal injury claims may be filed in a Connecticut civil court. If negligence can be proved against the driver deemed responsible, a court may grant monetary compensation for any and all legally recoverable losses that the victim or his or her surviving family members have sustained — such as medical expenses, funeral expenses and loss of income.
