2-vehicle collision injures 3

Authorities in Connecticut report that a vehicle accident in Wolcott during the morning hours of Sept. 30 left three people severely injured. Reports say that the injury crash involved two vehicles.

Police said the crash took place at about 7 a.m. on Route 322 as a motorist traveling up the hill of the two-lane roadway nearby Meriden Road suddenly veered over into the opposite lane and into the path of an approaching downhill vehicle. First responders worked to extricate the two occupants riding in the vehicle that was traveling uphill, using the Jaws of Life on the car's roof. An ambulance then took those two individuals and the driver of the other vehicle to a hospital.

When they responded to the scene, authorities restricted traffic for an unknown amount of time in order to determine the cause of the crash. It was not reported if speed or alcohol were considered factors in the crash, and law enforcement officials had not filed any charges against any of the motorists involved in the accident. Police did not release the identities of the accident victims.

Whenever a Connecticut resident who has been involved in a car accident suspects that a negligent driver could have caused the wreck, he or she might pursue a civil action in court. If the driver was found to be speeding, driving under the influence or violating traffic laws at the time of the car crash, he or she may be liable for damages. A local attorney representing the injured party may be able to find evidence from the police report and witness accounts to substantiate the plaintiff's claim. People who prevail in personal injury claims are usually compensated for their accident-related losses, including medical expenses, lost wages and property damages.
