Head-on collision in Connecticut sends two men to the hospital

There are times when the severity of injuries suffered in an accident aren't always immediately apparent. A recent head-on collision in Connecticut is responsible for sending two men to the hospital. While the victim of this crash was discharged from the hospital later that same day, it is possible that the injuries he suffered may warrant further medical treatments as time goes on.

This crash occurred in Haddam at the end of April, when the driver of a pick-up truck crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming box truck, causing both to catch on fire. The driver of the box truck, a 50-year-old male, though injured, was able to escape from his vehicle on his own. It is unknown if the other driver, a 29-year-old male, was able to get out on his own or if rescue teams has to free him from the wreckage. Both men were transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment. The box truck driver suffered from back and neck injuries, while the driver of the pick-up was listed in critical condition.

The official cause of the crash is still unknown. Local law enforcement are still investigating and request anyone with information to please come forward. It is unknown if any charges will be filed against the driver deemed responsible for this incident.

While the victim in the case was discharged from the hospital a few hours after arriving, back and neck injuries suffered in a head-on collision can grow worse overtime and may require further medical care. Physical therapy, rehabilitation and specialists, along with loss of wages due to time away from work to recover can all create financial difficulties. Connecticut residents who have been injured in a crash may pursue a personal injury claim against the individual believed to be responsible. If that individual is found liable, a civil court may provide a monetary judgement to the victim as compensation for the pain, suffering and financial losses endured as a result.
