Connecticut truck accident results in serious injuries

Connecticut residents that routinely drive above the speed limit could be endangering their own lives and the lives of others within their vicinity. Speeding truck drivers can create a high level of danger, since it can be difficult and sometimes impossible for their vehicles to make a quick maneuver to avoid dangerous situations. Unfortunately, serious injuries such as broken bones and head trauma can be the result of a truck accident.

A recent crash in Oxford resulted in five individuals being hospitalized. The accident occurred when the operator of a flat bed truck lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the opposite lane of traffic. His truck then collided with an oncoming car that was carrying a mother and her two children.

The mom, her children and two individuals that were in the truck were all hospitalized with injuries sustained from the accident. Preliminary indications are that at least some of the injuries suffered are considered to be serious. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence from the scene.

Even though police have yet to mention that speed may have been one of the causes for this truck accident, the possibility remains. The Oxford highway where this accident took place has a history of speeding drivers according to multiple residents. When evidence suggests that an injury was caused by a negligent or careless driver, a personal injury claim can be filed by a victim in a Connecticut civil court. Monetary relief gained from a successfully litigated lawsuit could help cover medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and any lost wages incurred by the victim.
