Ira B. Grudberg
Ira went through school in Stratford, Connecticut. After two years as an enlisted man in the U.S. Army, Signal Corps in Europe working on daily live communications, he graduated from Yale University, magna cum laude, in 1957, where he earned election to Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to Yale Law School, graduating cum laude in 1960. He was elected to the Order of the Coif, a legal honor society. Ira served as a law clerk to Judge J. Joseph Smith of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and joined the firm in 1961.
Between 1961 and 1963, Ira was a part-time instructor in law at Yale Law School. He was a visiting lecturer at Yale in 1976, teaching a course in Advanced Criminal Procedure. Ira is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. In 1969, he served as President of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He has also served as Chairman of the Connecticut Bar Association Committee on Automobile Reparations. He has for many years lectured to groups of lawyers on both criminal and civil trial practice.
Since 1983 Mr. Grudberg has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America in connection with criminal defense, business litigation, and personal injury litigation. He serves as president of the Connecticut Chapter of the International Network of Boutique Law Firms, an organization of preeminent boutique Firms.
Ira has tried every kind of criminal case -- white collar crimes against persons and property, drug offenses, assaults and worse. He has tried all kinds of personal injury cases, product liability and such, as well as a broad range of business litigation including antitrust and some patent litigation. In addition, he has argued numerous appeals before the Connecticut Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals in New York and California, and has submitted cases to the United States Supreme Court.
