Edward McManus has been an active trial lawyer in Connecticut since 1999. Ed's practice focuses on personal injury law and criminal defense. He represents clients seriously injured as a result of negligence, defective products and medical malpractice. In addition, Ed regularly represents clients accused of crimes, from DWI cases to serious felonies.

A few examples of Ed's cases include:

He secured one of the largest pre-trial work injury settlements in Connecticut history for a police officer who was rendered quadriplegic in an auto collision with a delivery truck.  The total value of the settlement, which included an initial payment of 7.6 million dollars and lifetime payment of all medical and hospital bills, could exceed 22 million dollars.

He represented a factory worker who sustained a serious hand injury while working on an industrial machine.  This product liability case was litigated and ultimately settled with the machine manufacturer and the employer for $616,300.

He represented the family of a woman who died in an apartment fire where the  landlord failed to install smoke detectors.  The case settled for a confidential amount for her wrongful death.

He represented a woman who suffered multiple orthopedic injuries in a hospital fall when the nursing staff left her unattended and standing alone following surgery. This medical malpractice case settled for a confidential amount.

He represented the family of an eight year old girl who was struck and killed by a car as she was riding her bike home from a candy store.  The wrongful death case settled for a confidential amount.

He secured a confidential settlement against the Wade Funeral Home for the survivors of a family member whose decomposing body was found stacked in a garage with other corpses;

He obtained a $277,500 settlement for a man who suffered a back injury when his automobile was crushed by a tractor trailer truck as he exited the highway.

Ed grew up in Woodbridge, Connecticut where he attended Amity Regional Senior High School. He received his B.S. degree from Northeastern University in 1993 and his law degree from Quinnipiac College School of Law in 1998. He joined the firm in January of 2003 after two years as a trial attorney for Allstate Insurance Company. Every year Ed organizes a fundraiser for his favorite charity: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. The nonprofit camp is located in Ashford, Connecticut and serves children and families coping with cancer and other serious illnesses.  Learn more at  http://www.holeinthewallgang.org   Ed is also a board member of the Calamari Club; a local, philanthropic organization that donates time and money to various nonprofit organizations.
